You’re probably dealing with a lot right now — cramming for exams, navigating relationships with new college friends and old home friends, and handling all the *stuff* that comes with living on your own for the first time.

But you might be able to take one thing off your plate: figuring out what dorm aesthetic is best for you. Because for that, you can lean on astrology.

Your sun sign can give you insight into your traits and quirks; for example, are you drawn to the finer things, or do you normally go for classic and functional? That’ll help you pick a style that shows off your awesome personality and also optimizes your likely very small space. So keep reading to learn the best dorm decor for your sign.

Aries (March 21 – April 19): Preppy

As an Aries, you’re competitive by nature. And while you might not initially feel like a preppy aesthetic reflects your edginess as a fire sign in the conventional sense, “The preppy style often equates to ‘sporty,’ and most Aries are athletic,” says professional astrologer Erin River Sunday. Items like plaid throws, monogrammed trinkets, and tennis racket wall decor will look right at home with your trophies and sports accolades on full display.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Cottagecore

Tauruses are homebodies at heart, so your space needs to be as comfortable as it is functional. You tend to spend time indoors enjoying the *simple pleasures*, and so the quaint cottagecore aesthetic works well with your Taurus vibe. “Cottagecore speaks to many of the things Taurus loves: warm cups of cider, blooming flowers, and cozy, classic decor,” says Sunday. “The Taurus dorm is filled with artfully made needlepoints and soft, comforting textiles.”

Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Eclectic

It’s hard to pinpoint a single aesthetic that best describes a multifaceted sign like you. “As with most things in life, style for a Gemini is something that can keep even themselves guessing!” explains Sunday. That said, an eclectic space — aka one that blends different styles and textures — where you can show off your many trinkets and hobbies is a perfect way to bring together all of your interests. “A bookshelf displaying everything from fantasy to world history will keep them, and their visitors, on their toes,” Sunday adds. You might thrift a globe or hang collages on your wall.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Vintage

Cancers are deeply sentimental — you’re more into the story behind something than the thing itself. The vintage aesthetic blends a classic feel with mementos that help you feel at home. “If there’s anything that informs Cancer’s style, it’s nostalgia,” says Sunday. “And [items like a] framed painting from a friend, an Afghan rug from Grandma, and a cool vintage clock bring familiar comfort to their domain.”

Leo (Jul 23 – August 22): Glam

Known for your love of all things indulgent, you Leos should have a glam space to mirror your over-the-top vibe. “Leos like things to be bright and colorful,” says Sunday. “The Leo-inspired dorm won’t shy away from flashy items like disco balls and glitter-rimmed picture frames of their favorite people.” So go for gilded and bedazzled decor pieces. Don’t forget the vanity mirror!

Virgo (August 23 – September 22): Plantcore

Virgos are down-to-earth, and a plantcore aesthetic perfectly translates your grounded energy. “Virgo is an Earth sign and appreciates not only growing plants, but learning all about how to optimize them,” explains Sunday. “The Virgo dorm is a haven for studying with enhanced air quality and peaceful shades of green.” Plus, since you’re a go-getter, the tranquil greenery can help put you at ease as you check off your hectic to-do list.

Libra (September 23 – October 22): Coquette

Libras like the finer things, thanks to your Venusian ruler. The coquette aesthetic has got your flirty and charming style down, with its bow- and heart-accented pieces. “Libras are pure romantics, and the coquette style is as soft and sweet as it gets,” says Sunday. “They love frills, whimsy, and classic additions like pearls and diamonds.”

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21): Dark Academia

As a Scorpio, you’re likely drawn to things in the gothic style — so consider embracing the dark academia aesthetic in your dorm. “Scorpios could write textbooks full of the secrets they’ve acquired [throughout life],” explains Sunday. A dark academic room, filled with beautifully bound books, flameless candles, and antique-style mirrors and clocks, is your perfect home. As Sunday puts it, “Dark and moody libraries set the tone for inspiration in their rooms.”

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21): Maximalist

As a Sagittarius, you’re not one to settle for just one thing, and that includes a design style. A maximalist aesthetic will bring together your different interests. “Simply put, it can be hard for a Sagittarius to say no. The maximalist aesthetic suits their roving eye and ensures there’s enough room to say ‘yes’ to every item that brings them joy,” Sunday explains. Go ahead: Opt for anything and everything from animal prints to food decor.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19): Minimalist

Capricorns are pragmatic by nature, so your dorm style should be functional and neat, like the minimalist aesthetic. “While Capricorns always want to embody success, they appreciate displaying restraint, instead focusing on the tools to support their upcoming achievements,” Sunday says. You don’t need much to feel cozy in your dorm, which is a key philosophy of minimalism. “The best study lighting, the highest thread count sheets, and the most comfortable desk chair will be of most importance,” Sunday adds.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18): Art Deco

As an Aquarius, you probably want a space as unconventional as you are. Your unorthodox spirit pairs well with an Art Deco aesthetic, which uses vibrant colors and geometric patterns, and often involves a modern twist on a classic style. Think: an arched headboard, a gilded lamp, a geometric trinket dish. “Aquarians are contrarians and don’t appreciate anything predictable while still craving boundaries,” explains Sunday. “They’re allowed to make the rules within the Art Deco style, while still working within an enduring structure.”

Pisces (February 19 – March 20): Boho

You’re a Pisces, so you’re into styles that can reflect your free-spirited vibe but also keep you grounded (for the times you daydream a little too much). Complete with plants and wicker furniture, the boho aesthetic matches that Pisces energy. “If there’s anything a Pisces knows how to do, it’s go with the flow, and [this] laissez-faire aesthetic gives them that space,” says Sunday. “Soft textures and colorful patterns cheer them up when they’re feeling drained.” Spring for a textured wall hanging, or throw pillows with botanic patterns and fringe.
