TikTokers Are Making Photo Displays Out of This Vintage Item (It’s Giving Tenniscore!)
The U.S. Open is right around the corner, Zendaya’s Challengers looks are still fresh in everyone’s minds, and I can’t stop spotting tenniscore style all over my feeds.
I’m always looking for simple ways to personalize my space, so I felt very inspired after seeing multiple TikTokers embracing the tenniscore trend as a design aesthetic by turning old tennis rackets into adorable wall decor. It’s super cute, and you can easily hang them in a dorm or college apartment.
In one recent post, TikToker Ruby Darmanin (@rubydarmanin) showed off the DIY process for an adorable racket and says the idea for it came from Pinterest.
To make one of these yourself, you obviously first need to acquire your racket. You might be able to nab an old, vintagey-looking racket from one of your local thrift shops, but if you can’t find one there, I surfed eBay and saw tons of cheap rackets to order. Or you might get lucky, like Darmanin did: “I posted on Facebook if there was anybody that had one,” Darmanin says in the TikTok, “and someone gave me one for free.”
Next comes the fun part: decorating! I love how Darmanin tied ribbon bows on a racket, giving it major coquette vibes.
Taylor Schnick (@taynicoleschick) really leaned into the vintagey feel this decor has by attaching Polaroid photos to rackets with clothespins.
I’ve seen another TikToker, Holland Teed (@hollandteed), turn a tennis racket into a jewelry display by dangling cool earrings off the racket. I feel like you could also hook on mementos, or even create a miniature vision board with magazine cutouts.
To display your racket, simply hammering a nail in the wall will do the trick. But if your space doesn’t allow for any holes in the walls, you could totally hang your racket from a ribbon like Niki (@ickynikiii) did, and wrap it around a Command hook!
