There was one big thing that my coworkers and I all agreed on at the start of the school year: We were going to  be more whimsical. Whimsy has been making a comeback in a big way, from quirky desk organizers to hands-on crafts that get you off your phone, to decor that just makes you happy to look at. I recently found a perfect example of whimsical home decor that might really help me with my goal: this multicolored curtain from Urban Outfitters made out of fabric garlands.

What Is the Urban Outfitters Fabric Chain-Linked Doorway Curtain?

This Fabric Chain-Linked Doorway Curtain is made up of 10 long 100% cotton fabric chains, each sporting a different pattern, from gingham to plaid to stripes, and in colors like blue, green, yellow, pink, and orange. It sells for $99, which is a little pricey on a college budget, but I like how it’s just mismatched enough to bring about some whimsy and radiates sunny spring energy. It measures 78 inches long and 35 inches wide, and comes with a pocket sleeve at the top so you can easily hang it up with a curtain rod, whether you’re placing it in front of a window or in between a doorway.

Why I Love This Whimsical Curtain

Especially during this extra cold and snowy winter, this fabric curtain would be such a nice piece of dopamine decor to bring into my apartment. The pastel pattern reminds me of the Danish pastel aesthetic I’ve been gravitating toward on Pinterest. Though there’s been a huge paper garland resurgence recently, from Christmas garlands to Valentine’s Day, this one stands out because it’s highly reusable (made of fabric) and isn’t a seasonal piece of decor.

I love how DIY this curtain looks without having to put in the work yourself.  If you don’t want to spend $99 for just one curtain, I do think you could make a version yourself for much less if you have the sewing skills. Either way, your whimsy quotient will go way up.
