In every place I’ve ever lived, the walls are usually the last to be decorated. But after a thorough round of brainstorming for bedroom decor, I decided that my bare windows would be a good place to start instead. Curtains seemed like the quickest and easiest way to decorate since I only had to pinpoint a style of window covering that would be right for my space.

As a regular Urban Outfitters shopper, I usually check its home section once a day for any fun finds, like my food stools and unique trinket dishes. So, I combed through the retailer’s curtain selection and finally landed on the top-rated sheer Chiffon Window Panels — but they were sold out. I knew these were IT, so I waited it out and bought a pair in Yellow Multi as soon as they restocked.

What Is the Chiffon Window Panel?

The popular Chiffon Window Panels at Urban Outfitters are sold individually, so get two if you want one on each side. Made from 100% polyester, they come folded and rolled and are just as beautifully airy and delicate as they look in photos. The curtain panels are available in one size (52×96 inches) that’s long enough to pool on the carpet, which, in my opinion, looks ultra-romantic. However, if you want less fabric on the floor, all you have to do is hang them higher. Best of all, they may look high maintenance, but they’re actually machine-washable, so you can keep them looking as good as new for a long time.

When I bought my chiffon curtains, they only came in three colors, but now there are a total of seven: Cheeky Pink, Pink Rosette, Teal, Turf Green, Cloud Dancer, Yellow, and Orange. Each one features a discreet tunnel top that blends neatly into its overall design. The additional colors make a wide range of temperatures possible since cooler tones like teal and green are available. Or, if you’re interested in a true neutral, you could go with Cloud Dancer (white).

Why I Love the Chiffon Window Panels

Believe it or not, I wasn’t interested in blackout curtains for my room since I wanted a lighter look and feel. While my window is small enough for a single chiffon panel, I wanted a fuller appearance, so I grabbed two. I also bought a second color (orange) to go along with the yellow. Chiffon wrinkles easily, so these curtains had more than a few once I hung them up, but I smoothed them out effortlessly with my garment steamer.

The yellow and orange combo adds a warm glow to my room when the morning sun hits that lasts well into the afternoon. It’s so bright that my cousin came to visit once and thought I’d left a light on because of the sunlight pouring in through the chiffon! I couldn’t be happier with my purchase, and while these curtains don’t shield my bedroom from light, the warmth that it brings to the room more than makes up for it. Besides, I love to live out my fairy tale dreams and wake up with the sun.
