I go to school in Vermont, and up here in New England, it’s officially sweater season. The leaves are falling, and the coziness levels are off the charts. As such, I’ve been flipping my closet to say goodbye to my summer wardrobe and bring back my cold-weather staples.

I wear sweatshirts all the time, but the one thing that bothers me about them is their knack for taking up way too much space in my closet. It’s so hard to organize them in a way where they don’t look bulky or messy. Luckily, I spotted this awesome storage hack on TikTok that uses a somewhat unlikely dorm find.

How to Use This Over-the-Door Sweatshirt Storage Hack

TikTok user Morgan (@morgandemarie) uploaded this video in response to another TikTok. She made a handful of smart small-space storage solutions, from a shoe cabinet to a sunglasses organizer. In this video, though, she highlights a simple yet brilliant way to organize your sweatshirts using an over-the-door shoe organizer.

All you have to do is hang it over your closet or bedroom door, roll your sweatshirts up into a tight bundle, and slide them into the compartments. And there you have it: a neat storage idea that lets you see all of your favorite hoodies at once, utilizes vertical space, and doesn’t take up any precious real estate in your dresser drawers.

The organizer linked in Morgan’s TikTok is unavailable at the moment, but I found a good alternative, which is this over-the-door shoe organizer from the same brand on Amazon for $30.99.

Using a shoe organizer in this way is great because not only does it consolidate your sweatshirts, which creates more space in your closet, but it also makes it easier to grab the one you want in the morning. It may even save time in your daily routine because you don’t have to rummage through your drawers to find the one you want.

Even though her heart belongs to the ocean, the mountains are becoming a close contender. Her favorite part of living in Burlington, Vermont, for college is its unique coffee shops. Her perfect day would consist of going to a cute café in the morning, then spending the day at the beach swimming and reading, then ending the day by shopping and getting dressed up for a nice dinner downtown. Through Dorm Therapy, Isabel is excited to be a voice for young adults embarking on their college journeys and she hopes to make this big transition of life more comfortable for others in the same place as her.
