Almost everything in Nalla Hussain’s (@nalla_jolie on Instagram and TikTok) Texas Christian University dorm room is soft pink or lavender. She accents the pastel color scheme with gold-rimmed furniture, lacy borders, pearls, floral patterns, and ribbon bows.

A member of the TCU Showgirls, the university’s official dance team, Nalla displays her Showgirl outfits and the team’s iconic cowboy boots proudly on a gold clothing rack, proving that even accessories can make for glamorous dorm decor. It’s a room with all the frills, truly fit, as Taylor Swift might say, for the life of a showgirl, babe.

Nalla’s Space

What do you like about your space? I was assigned my housing and it was the best outcome I could’ve ever hoped for! My mom decorated my dorm, and I absolutely love everything she did. My favorite things are definitely the wallpaper, name sign, my vanity, and shelf decor. I love waking up every day to a room that matches my vibe and feels just like home.

What was the biggest challenge in decorating your space? Our biggest challenge was time, since everyone had time slots for moving in, but we eventually got it done!

Nalla’s Style

How would you define your personal home style? I would describe it as cute, chic, and fancy.

What is your favorite element of your space? The wallpaper! It adds so much more to the decor and overall aesthetic of the room.

Nalla’s Budget

How much does your housing cost per semester? $2,875.

Do you have anyone helping to fund your decor? Yes, my parents.

Do you pay for your living expenses? Yes.

What was your biggest splurge for this space? My gold clothing rack.

Nalla’s Advice

What small space tips do you have? Some tips for maximizing the space would be using the space underneath the bed! All my drawers for my clothes are under the bed so I have tons of space to store my items.

What is your proudest DIY? The bow hung across the window! My mom DIYed it using foam and fabric.
