It’s Your Last Chance to Buy This Adorable, Viral IKEA Lamp (And It’s on Sale!)

When you first move in, dorm lighting rarely serves the way you wish it would. There’s often limited natural light, forcing you to use the way too bright “kitchen lighting” as my friends and I call it, also known as the harsh overhead light. My mission has always been to turn on the overhead light as little as possible, so I make sure to bring in as much warm, cozy lighting as I can into my space. And I know I’m not alone: Lots of people dread the Big Light. 

If you’re not already in the know, IKEA is an incredible source for affordable lamps to help you avoid that harsh dorm lighting — and one of my favorites is on clearance right now. 

IKEA’s SPETSBOJ table lamp is a small, dimmable lamp with a metal shade and a sleek, retro look. It comes in three colors — green, white, and yellow — but the butter yellow version, in particular, had a viral moment last year because of its perfectly on-trend hue.

The lamp stands just 9 inches tall, so it’s a great bedside or desktop addition. The coolest part is that to adjust the lighting level, you just rotate the metal shade to dim or brighten the light. This lamp plugs into the wall, so you don’t need to worry about charging it, and though the bulb is sold separately, IKEA recommends an LED Bulb E12 globe opal white.

The SPETSBOJ lamp is pretty petite, at just 9 inches tall and a 3-inch diameter at the base, which means it works on practically any surface or nook that needs a little extra light. Think: Your getting ready corner, your coffee cart (for the vibes), or your bedside table. 

Its price makes it great for balling on a budget when dorm shopping (which adds up fast). I also really appreciate the dimming feature, which lets you use it for different purposes, like illuminating your page while you’re reading or just setting a cozy vibe for a movie night.
