After studying abroad last spring, I collected a lot of photobooth strips from all over the world. They’re super cute, and I don’t regret taking any of them, but I struggled to figure out what to do with all of them. They’re kind of small, so it’s hard to find the right frame to display them, but I also don’t want to hide them away in a box.

I recently spotted a very cute idea in this video posted by @kiwiwiggo with the caption “cool ideas for your room.”

I always love these videos because I am already compiling a Pinterest board full of room decor ideas for my first real apartment post-grad. As I scrolled through the aesthetic photos, I was especially drawn to the shot of an accordion-style folding fan, where someone placed a couple of their photobooth strips in between the creases. It’s so chic and creative!

How to Use an Accordion Fan to Display Photos

From the looks of it, this decor hack couldn’t be simpler. All you need is a basic folding fan. You could probably thrift one pretty easily, and I know I have some lying around my house that I’ve gotten as wedding favors. Amazon also has this beautiful cotton lace fan for $11 (it comes in a bunch of colors, but I love the beige).

Once you have your fan, open it up all the way. Then, take a couple of  photobooth strips, slide the bottom of them in between the wooden creases, and space them out accordingly, so the fan is your background for the photostrips. You may have to wiggle them a bit to make sure they stay securely tucked in.

If you are using a lace fan, you can even attach a pair of earrings to it to make it extra eclectic (and help store your jewelry!). I would hang this up anywhere in my room (a few Command strips on the back should hold it up), and it would even be a cute gift for a friend who is in the photobooth picture with you. Needless to say, I’m definitely saving this idea for my future apartment!
