It’s been almost three years since Wednesday premiered on Netflix, so this return to Nevermore Academy with Wednesday and her friends is a very welcome one. The first four episodes of the second season of the dark (academia) comedy drop August 6, and Wendy’s created a new Wednesday meal with mystery sauces and a new Frosty to go with it.

The Wendy’s x Wednesday Meal of Misfortune looks familiar to a typical Wendy’s order with nuggets and fries, but the collaboration between Wendy’s and Netflix is dark, bold, and a little scary, thanks to four mystery sauces. As a fan of the OG Frosty, I had to see what this new red-swirled Frosty was about — and those sauces.

What Is the Wendy’s x Wednesday Meal of Misfortune?

In a nod to Wednesday Addams (well, Wendy’s says Wednesday picked this meal herself LOL), the Wendy’s x Wednesday Meal of Misfortune comes with “Rest in 10-Piece” chicken nuggets, a small portion of “Cursed & Crispy” Fries, and a small “Raven’s Blood” Frosty, which is a Vanilla Frosty with a dark cherry-flavored syrup, served in black-and-purple Wednesday-inspired packaging.

The paper bag the meal comes in features Wednesday’s iconic braids, and reads, “There’s nothing happy about this meal.” For the Frosty, it includes a purple plastic “spoon of gloom.”

The real star of the show is the two “Dips of Dread” sauces included with the meal (although, there’s no guarantee you’ll get two different flavors). According to responses in a Reddit thread from apparent Wendy’s employees, here’s what you can expect with the four sauces: You Can’t Hyde is spicy ketchup, This Will Sting is hot honey garlic, Grave Mistake is scorpio pepper, and Nowhere to Woe is Wendy’s signature sauce.

You can’t choose the two dipping sauces included with your meal, so you’ll have to go back for a chance to try them all (or just ask for all four!). The meal, including two dipping sauces, was $9.44, and it dropped in stores on August 4.

My Honest Review of the Wendy’s x Wednesday Meal of Misfortune

This meal was definitely a fright. It started out strong, with the classic nuggets and fries, which I tried without the dips to have a baseline for comparison as I started dipping. They both tasted pretty average for a fast-food nugget and french fry. But I wasn’t there just to try Wendy’s food; I was there for Wednesday’s specials.

Wendy’s “You Can’t Hyde” Sauce Wednesday Meal Review

The “Dips of Dread” mystery sauce truly brought an average meal to the next level. Judging from the taste and ingredients list, it looks like I had “You Can’t Hyde,” a spicy ketchup (both of my sauces tasted the same, so I think I got two of the same flavor). This made the meal a lot more interesting, and I loved the flavor of the spicy ketchup (especially with the nuggets!). However, I’m not positive which sauce I had because they aren’t labeled, and they are all dyed purple.

As if eating unlabeled sauce wasn’t nerve-racking enough, the scariest part of the Meal of Misfortune came next: the “Raven’s Blood” Frosty. I am a huge Chocolate Frosty fan, but decided to go with the vanilla option because I assumed it would pair better with the dark cherry sauce. My initial reaction to the Frosty was that it tasted like cough syrup I took when I was a kid. (TikToker @jtkravingzz  had a similar experience.)

There was a ton of cherry sauce sitting at the bottom of the cup, and the more I swirled it in the less I liked it. I preferred the top of the frosty with much less of the syrup. Maybe the chocolate would have been better with the cherry syrup, but if you want to experience a classic Frosty flavor, I would recommend sticking to the plain chocolate and vanilla flavors.
