I have a HUGE sweet tooth. Finishing off the night on a savory note just doesn’t do it for me. Quite often, I’ll grab some variation of dark chocolate. I just love the rich, bittersweet, fruity notes.

One of my favorites is UNREAL. I was first introduced to the candy brand three years ago when ordering groceries from Misfits Market. The colorful yet minimalistic packaging stood out on the website (as well as the lower sugar claims), and I instantly added a bag to my cart. Once it arrived, I eagerly tried a bar and was sold. It’s been a go-to of mine ever since.

I’ve tried LOTS of different snacks (it comes with the territory of the job), but when I found one that satisfied my sweet craving with a dose of childhood nostalgia, I knew I needn’t look any further.

What’s So Great About UNREAL Dark Chocolate Coconut Bars?

UNREAL Snacks specializes in the classic candy bars you likely grew up eating, but with a slightly different list of ingredients. (The brand also sells chocolate-covered almonds and pretzels.) I’ve tried most of UNREAL’s products, and let me tell you, they don’t miss.

Unlike most candy bars on shelves, UNREALs candies are made with simple ingredients, colored with natural vegetable dyes, and contain no additives, artificial sugars, or sugar alcohols. All ingredients are also fair trade, certified non-GMO, vegan, and gluten free

Lately, I’ve been turning to the UNREAL Dark Chocolate Coconut Bars, which contain just three ingredients: organic coconut, organic cassava syrup, and dark chocolate. Each bar has 3 grams of sugar (51% less than the leading brand on equal weight basis) and is individually wrapped so you can easily throw one in your bag for a moment of bliss on the go.

The bar isn’t sickeningly sweet, either. Plus, the shredded coconut adds a chewy texture that pairs beautifully with the dark chocolate for a rich, indulgent bite. As per the name, they’re unreal.

You can find them at Amazon, Costco, Publix, Sprouts, Whole Foods, and more (or grab them directly on the brand’s website).

What’s the Best Way to Enjoy UNREAL Dark Chocolate Coconut Bars?

Simply rip open one of the mini bars and dig in! Try stashing them in the fridge (or freezer) first, so the texture firms up and chocolate becomes more fudgy. I’ve also been known to bring a bag with me on road trips and may have snuck some into a movie or two. (The sweet salty combo with hot buttered popcorn can’t be beat.)

Even better, share them with your friends and family. I converted my sister who said they were “so good, I bought a bag the next day.”

Buy: UNREAL Dark Chocolate Coconut Bars, $37.99 for 3 (9.5-ounce) bags on Amazon
