The $4 Trader Joe’s Pasta I’ll Be Buying from Now On (It’s My New Favorite!)
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Trader Joe’s is at its absolute best in the fall. And so I was not at all surprised to recently discover that the beloved grocer has nailed it once again with a seasonal pasta: Trader Joe’s Butternut Squash Ravioli.
In my mind, pasta and fall are the perfect combo — cozy and comforting, ideal for enjoying on a crisp day as you sit and watch a movie or chat with some friends on FaceTime. And this well-made, fall flavor-stuffed pasta takes that comfy feeling to another level.
What’s So Great About Trader Joe’s Butternut Squash Ravioli?
TJ’s Butternut Squash Ravioli is a thin, triangular pasta filled with butternut squash, and it’s fast and easy to make. Once you boil a pot of water, it only needs to cook for around three minutes before it’s ready to eat.
I actually went to TJ’s to pick up a different ravioli and one of my favorites — the Honey Roasted Pumpkin Ravioli — but I pivoted to the butternut squash option when the pumpkin one wasn’t available. I had never had the butternut squash version, but I was excited to try it.
I can now officially say that it’s very comparable to the Honey Roasted Pumpkin Ravioli. The butternut squash filling has that same very obvious spiced autumnal taste, but it’s also got some tanginess to it compared with the pumpkin ravioli’s sweetness.
What’s the Best Way to Enjoy Trader Joe’s Butternut Squash Ravioli?
I loved the smoothness of the butternut squash filling. I almost wished there had been more, and some cheese in it, too. So I topped my ravioli with a little butter, olive oil, and Parmesan for added richness.
I also saw on Reddit that one person enjoys their Butternut Squash Ravioli with butter, a bit of brown sugar, pecorino romano, and pine nuts, and I think that would be a *chef’s kiss* dinner experience.
I’m happy to have more prep options handy, because it’s safe to say I will definitely be buying this ravioli again this season.
Find it at stores: Trader Joe’s Butternut Squash Ravioli, $3.99 for 8.8 ounces
