If you’ve ever ordered Taco Bell’s Nacho Fries the moment they returned to the menu, you’re not alone. For years, the cult-favorite side has followed the same pattern: a dramatic comeback, a wave of fan excitement, and then, just when people start craving them regularly, they disappear again.

But fans can rejoice because Taco Bell is finally ending the cycle — and offering a major upgrade to your study snack lineup. The chain announced that Nacho Fries will officially become a permanent menu item in 2026, which means we won’t have to wait for the next limited-time drop to order them again.

The brand revealed the news during Taco Bell’s annual Live Más LIVE event on March 10, where the chain previews upcoming menu innovations and experiments for the year ahead. While the showcase included more than 20 new items, from dessert mash-ups to new chicken offerings, the permanent arrival of Nacho Fries was easily one of the biggest announcements of the night.

What Are Taco Bell’s Nacho Fries?

Nacho Fries first launched in 2018 and quickly became one of Taco Bell’s most-talked-about menu items. Unlike traditional fast-food fries, they’re coated in a bold seasoning blend inspired by Mexican spices and served with a side of warm nacho cheese sauce for dipping. The combination has become a cult favorite for Taco Bell lovers, when they could get them.

Even with their popularity, Taco Bell kept them as a limited-time offering, bringing them back in waves rather than keeping them on the menu year-round.

I remember trying them during one of their earlier runs, and they honestly lived up to the hype. They were warm and well-seasoned, and I’m always a fan of a thick-cut fry — especially one that’s meant to be dipped straight into nacho cheese.

When Are Taco Bell’s Nacho Fries Coming Back?

The brand hinted in a press release when fans might see Nacho Fries return for good in 2026, saying, “After years of sell-out runs and passionate fan pleas, Nacho Fries are officially joining menus permanently later this year.”

“The iconic, boldly seasoned fries have earned permanent status — a historic moment for one of the brand’s cult favorites,” the brand shared.

We reached out to Taco Bell for exact timing on when the Nacho Fries would come back this year, but didn’t hear back at the time of publication, so make sure to keep your eyes on Taco Bell’s socials for an announcement.

The fries’ promotion to a permanent menu item isn’t the only update. Taco Bell also announced Flamin’ Hot Nacho Fries, a variation that pairs the seasoned fries with a Flamin’ Hot-flavored nacho cheese sauce for an extra-spicy dip. The new version is part of the chain’s broader push toward bolder flavors. It’s unclear if these will also be permanent, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Other New Taco Bell Items Coming in 2026

During the Live Más LIVE showcase, the company also revealed a wide range of experimental and mash-up items — including Diablo-dusted crispy chicken nuggets, a Mountain Dew Baja Midnight pie, and even a crème brûlée-inspired Crunchwrap dessert.

That mix of nostalgic fan favorites and unexpected new creations has become a big part of Taco Bell’s brand in recent years, turning menu announcements into major pop-culture moments. Still, among all the new reveals, Nacho Fries becoming permanent may be the most straightforward win for fans.

After years of temporary returns, one of Taco Bell’s most beloved menu items is finally here to stay.
