I’m a big fan of Oreos. They’re great on their own, delicious blended into milkshakes, and steal the show in all kinds of desserts, like this no-bake Oreo cheesecake. While the classic has a special place in my heart, I’m always down to try each and every flavor that pops up in stores — even the ones that are very much here today, gone tomorrow. (Mint chip, it’s been real.)

So when I heard that the iconic cookie creators are dropping six new flavors to kick off the new year, my excitement was through the roof. All but one will arrive in stores on January 3, and I couldn’t wait to try them. Nor did I! I reached out to Team Oreo to see if I could sample some ahead of their launch. After snacking my way through the yet-to-be-released flavors, I’ll be counting down the days until one in particular hits shelves.

What You Should Know About Oreo Minis Peanut Butter

For the first time in six years, Oreos is adding a new mini flavor to its rotating family of creme-filled cookies. It’s a trully historic moment. Prior to this launch, only two other flavors — Original and golden Oreos — have ever received the miniature treatment. I was a little surprised, myself.

These minis are everything you know and love about peanut butter Oreos, packed into a bite-size cookie: The classic chocolate cookies are sandwiched around a smooth peanut butter-flavored creme. You can find them at grocery stores nationwide starting January 3, and expect to pay around $2.29 for a 3-ounce bag.

My Honest Review of Oreo Minis Peanut Butter

The combination of chocolate and peanut butter is a match made in heaven. (I’ve already raved about how good it is in ice creams and one of my new favorite spreads). So I had high hopes for this cookie combo — especially after the standard-sized Peanut Butter Oreos ranked pretty high in The Kitchn’s official Oreo taste test.

The peanut butter creme has a nice roasted peanut flavor, and is noticeably creamy (compared to others that can be a bit grainy). It’s not overly sweet either, and harmoniously blends with the bitter, dark cocoa notes of the classic chocolate wafer cookie. The ratio of creme to cookie is spot-on too, with the filling being roughly the same thickness as one cookie.

It has me wondering: What will Oreo mini next? (Yes, mini is now a verb.)
