Nutella Is Releasing a “Delicious” New Flavor for the First Time in More Than 60 Years
Creamy, delicious Nutella is a sweet pantry staple that can most accurately be described as joy in a jar. I think the chocolate-hazelnut spread makes every dessert better; from banana bread to sticky buns to hot chocolate, Nutella always takes things to the next level. But that doesn’t mean that introducing a new flavor isn’t welcome — and for the first time in more than 60 years, that’s exactly what the brand is doing.
In 1964 Ferrero International debuted the original Nutella hazelnut cocoa spread. It was an instant success, and the recipe has remained the same for 61 years. There have never been any flavor variations — until now.
Ferrero International just announced that it will be launching Nutella Peanut, which combines the same creamy, cocoa hazelnut spread we all know and love with the flavor of roasted peanuts. For chocolate and peanut butter combo enthusiasts, this sounds like a dream snack.
“Our momentum here has never been stronger,” said Michael Lindsey, president and chief business officer of Ferrero North America, in a statement about new product releases. “Developing Nutella and Ferrero Rocher products specifically for the North American market represents a defining moment in our company’s history. These innovations will engage both loyal fans and new consumers, boosting our power brands and further solidifying our position as a category leader in North America.”
If you want to get your hands on a jar of Nutella Peanut, have patience. The earliest the new flavor will appear on grocery store shelves is spring of 2026 — almost a year from now. Until then, you can enjoy the traditional hazelnut spread.
If you’re a fan of Nutella, now is the time to start planning all of the ways you’ll incorporate Nutella Peanut into your favorite sweet treats. Need inspiration? Try our go-to four-ingredient Nutella mug cake, Nutella puppy chow, or Nutella brownies. The possibilities are endless.
