McDonald’s infamous snack wrap sparked some pretty serious public outrage when the chain discontinued it in 2020 due to “menu simplification.” When the wraps returned to menus in July 2025, a great celebration online ensued.

I finally tried the snack wrap for myself this summer when it came back, and I immediately understood why fans of the tortilla offering were so upset that it left. It’s the perfect amount of food for a post-school or -work snack that won’t spoil your supper.

However, I don’t always want to leave the house for some Mickey D’s, and I’m really not a food delivery person. When I saw this video for a copycat McDonald’s Snack Wrap at home, I was captivated. I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of throwing together the few ingredients required before.

How to Make the McDonald’s Snack Wrap at Home

The video shows how to bread and fry your chicken, but I opted for a shortcut. I picked up a bag of frozen chicken tenders from the store and started off by popping them in the air fryer. (I just used Target’s Good and Gather brand — and they were delicious!)

Grab a flour tortilla and spread a thin layer of ranch dressing in the middle. The creator of this video, @nutrientmatters, used a mixture of mayonnaise and mustard, but I opted to stay true to the McDonald’s menu and use Ranch. Sprinkle some finely chopped romaine lettuce and cheddar cheese onto the tortilla. Place your cooked chicken strip on top. Add another sprinkling of cheese and a drizzle of ranch, and you’re ready to start lovin’ it.

My Honest Review of This Copycat McDonald’s Snack Wrap

While I wasn’t someone who was deeply distraught by the Snack Wrap’s cancellation back in 2020, I totally get why people were so sad. It’s such a tasty wrap that hits on so many notes. The ranch and cheddar cheese make it nostalgic. And the warm and crispy chicken makes it extra-comforting. Luckily, it’s ridiculously easy to make at home — especially if you use frozen chicken tenders. From start to finish, it took me 15 minutes (and 12 of those were spent just waiting for the chicken to reheat).

While freshly fried chicken would be delicious, I’m sure, it seems like a lot of work to go into something that’s meant to be a quick bite. And now that I’ve got a bag of tenders in my freezer, I definitely see more snack wraps in my future.

Tips for Making McDonald’s Snack Wrap at Home

  • Toss your strip in some sauce. There’s already a drizzle of ranch, but I think it could use a little more flavor. As a saucy girl, I would toss my tenders in some Buffalo sauce before adding them to the tortilla. It might be a little more in line with McDonald’s spicy snack wrap, but I’m OK with that.
