There are a ton of options when it comes to plush throw blankets for your dorm room. But if you’re hoping to use one for more than a few years of college, you’ll want to invest in a blanket that will stand up to years of cuddling. The Lola Poppy Pink Blanket is a great candidate for the perfect cozy addition to your dorm, since it can transition out of college with you.

Note: The Lola Poppy Pink Blanket is currently out of stock. However, I’ve featured a few alternative styles that offer the exact same feel, along with equally cute colors and patterns.

Creating the most comfortable bed is always my priority when moving into a new space, especially while in college. As a plush blanket connoisseur, I thought I’d tried them all, but I was happy to be introduced to the Lola Blanket that’s lightweight and still keeps me warm. I’d seen plenty of celebs, including Jake Shane, one of my favorite influencers, post about how much they love this blanket, so I was excited to finally give it a try and see if it was overhyped (it’s not).

Priced at $275 for a medium, it’s definitely an expensive item to add to your dorm wish list (you can use the code AUG50 for 50% off sitewide at Lola for the brand’s Christmas in August Sale now through August 25, which also gets you a $50 gift card and free shipping), but it did check all of the throw blanket boxes for me — and has made the most wonderful addition to my bed. This is an investment piece that will last many years.

What Are Lola Blankets?

Whether you’re getting ready to move into your freshman-year dorm or living off campus with friends, you want your room to be comfortable — and you especially need it to be warm if you go to school somewhere with cold winters. This is where the ridiculously soft Lola Blankets come in. They’re double-sided, soft, and stretchy, and come in a variety of colors and patterns (check out the new arrivals section here).

The site includes pillows (18×18 inches) and blankets that are available in baby (30×36 inches), medium (50×60 inches), large (60×72 inches), and XL (80×90 inches) sizes.

One of the most important factors I keep in mind when selecting bedding is how well the product washes. There’s nothing worse than a pilling sheet or a crunchy blanket, am I right? (I haven’t tried washing the blanket yet, but it sounds like it will stay soft and fluffy .)

The Lola Blanket is made from cruelty-free polyester, according to the brand’s website, and you can machine wash it alone in cold water with regular liquid detergent. It’s important to avoid using fabric softener on this material to hang dry the blanket. Once the blanket is dry, you can briefly tumble dry on the “air” setting if it’s feeling a little flat to give it more life — and you shouldn’t experience any shedding. On the Lola Blankets website, one reviewer shared that the slate blue blanket was so cozy and “washed great as well.”

Why I Love My Lola Blanket

I’d never tried a Lola blanket before the company sent me the Large Poppy Pink blanket, but I was definitely intrigued.

I was so excited to replace my current throw that was damaged from drying on high temperatures with this one. The Poppy Pink color matched my space perfectly, and has definitely taken my bed to the next level (I would recommend Blush Pink or Pink Check for a similar effect). Since I tried this in the summer, I got to test out how warm it can keep me when the air conditioning starts to be too much (but when it’s too hot outside to totally turn it off).

The Lola blanket is great for curling up on the couch with a book or even using it as extra bedding. I found the weight of this blanket to be perfect for the summer: It keeps me warm without feeling like a weighted blanket, as some other faux fur throws tend to. I can imagine that I’ll similarly enjoy keeping cozy under this blanket as the temperatures drop.

Of course, this is a pricey buy for a dorm room, but if you’re looking to treat yourself and buy something you can use for years to come (it might even become your new favorite blanket!), you can use the code AUG50 for 50% off sitewide at Lola.
