There’s no better way to get in the Halloween spirit than dimming the lights, sipping on a pumpkin spice latte, and starting a marathon of your favorite TV shows’ Halloween episodes. Or, maybe you just want to switch out your nightly TV show with a festive episode. Disney Channel’s “Monstober,” which aired Halloween episodes of its shows, was usually the highlight of Halloween time for me when I was younger.

As much as I love a fall TV show like Gilmore Girls, a spooky, chaotic Halloween episode is even more nostalgic for me this time of year. From Disney Channel faves to comedy classics, here are some of my favorite episodes to watch in October to get in the Halloween spirit.

The Office Halloween Episodes

The long-running NBC comedy had five Halloween-centric episodes, and there are plenty of costumes and hilarious mishaps to get you into the spirit.

How to watch: Peacock

1. “Halloween” (Season 2, Episode 5)

There’s no shortage of holiday episodes of The Office. but the Halloween episodes are some of my favorites. In the first Halloween episode, Michael is deciding who to let go from Dunder Mifflin, which puts a damper on the staff’s upcoming Halloween party.

2. “Employee Transfer” (Season 5, Episode 6)

In this episode’s cold open, we can see the staff dressed up in their Halloween costumes. I think the best part of this episode is that Pam is the only employee dressed up at the corporate office.

3. “Costume Contest” (Season 7, Episode 6)

The Scranton Dunder Mifflin employees show their competitive side during an office Halloween costume competition. My favorite costume is Gabe’s, but I won’t spoil it!

4. “Spooked” (Season 8, Episode 5)

At this year’s Halloween party, Erin tries to make the office a bit spookier. However, it becomes disastrous, and Erin worries she could get fired.

5. “Here Comes Treble” (Season 9, Episode 5)

On Halloween, Andy brings in his Cornell a cappella group to perform in the office. This episode is bittersweet, as it’s the last Halloween episode in the series.

Friends Halloween Episode

There’s only one major Halloween episode in everyone’s favorite sitcom, but it’s worth a rewatch every year.

6. “The One with the Halloween Party” (Season 8, Episode 6)

Monica and Chandler throw a Halloween party. At the party, Phoebe meets her twin’s fiancé (played by Sean Penn) and learns that her sister has been lying to him about most aspects of her personality. Of course, the star of the show in this episode is Chandler in his pink bunny costume.

When Luke’s Halloween party seems like a failure, the Dunphy family rallies to save the event. Cam and Mitchell search for the child that egged Cam, and are surprised when they realize it was a family member.

11. “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Phil Dunphy” (Season 9, Episode 5)

With their kids growing up, Claire and Phil try to help their children realize Halloween is fun for adults. They later start to wonder if everyone is right about their overenthusiasm for the holiday.

12. “Good Grief” (Season 10, Episode 5)

The family copes with a loss on Halloween, but they are still dressed in costume and celebrating, while grieving — it’s not all laughs, but it’s a nice balance between sentimentality and humor.

Phil is set on finally scaring Claire on Halloween. Lily goes to her first party alone, and Mitch and Cam attend a Halloween carnival.
