I’ve never met a chocolate-covered pretzel I didn’t like; they’re a quintessential salty-sweet snack. I may have even snuck a bag into a movie theater or two (sorry, not sorry). While I’m normally a dark chocolate girl, I’m always open to trying a new flavor, like these mocha latte minis from Trader Joe’s

Add a holiday twist and I’m all in! And wouldn’t you know it, Flipz recently unveiled not one, but two new pretzel twists inspired by some pretty iconic festive flavors: peppermint hot cocoa and snickerdoodle cookies. As a fan of both flavors, I was excited to sample them in pretzel form.

What You Should Know About Flipz Snickerdoodle and Peppermint Hot Cocoa Pretzels

Flipz Snickerdoodle Flavored Covered Pretzels take the humble pretzel and cover it in a creamy white chocolate coating mixed with cinnamon, while the Flipz Peppermint Hot Cocoa Flavored Covered Pretzels are coated in rich milk chocolate with bits of crushed peppermint on top.

Both launched in mid-November and are available for a limited time only at select retailers nationwide. They come in a small 2.5-ounce bag (that could easily find its way into a theater), and a larger 6.5-ounce bag, which is better suited to holiday party snacking.

My Honest Review of Flipz Snickerdoodle and Peppermint Hot Cocoa Pretzels

I had a hard time choosing which flavor to try first. Both just ooze holiday cheer! In the end I began with the peppermint hot cocoa pretzels. The hot-cocoa smell was familiar — like your favorite hot cocoa mix, with a note of peppermint. It immediately drew me in.

The flavor was spot-on, too. I know it’s polarizing, but I love the combination of peppermint and chocolate (peppermint bark is super popular this time of year for a reason). Here it isn’t too overpowering — especially when combined with the saltiness of the pretzel. I was left with the lingering freshness and cooling sensation of the mint.

Next up: snickerdoodle. While I’m not the biggest fan of white chocolate, I can be convinced when it’s done right (hello, Kit-Kat). The cookie-inspired pretzels are generously dipped, with a much thicker coating than the peppermint hot cocoa pretzels. Although they smell and taste capital-S Sweet, there’s a slight yogurt-y tang which helps cut the sweetness; the salty pretzel also helps balance it out and there’s plenty of cinnamon flavor, like you’d find in the cookie.

Either one would make great movie snacks, stocking stuffers, or delicious additions to a holiday dessert or hot chocolate board. While you’re at it, try both. It’s the holidays!
