The holiday season is coming up — and with that comes lots of packing

As a busy senior in college with friends to visit in different cities, I am constantly throwing my things in a suitcase to take on overnight trips. One of the most annoying parts of packing is dealing with detangling necklaces, so I was thrilled to learn about a TikTok-approved travel hack that makes taking jewelry on trips so easy.

Emma Villaneda of @thecraftedstudioco showed off her easy methods for packing using clever Dollar Tree finds, like travel-size bottles that come with four separate compartments in one to maximize space, shower caps to cover the soles of your shoes, and $1.25 laundry bags as cheap alternatives to packing cubes (so smart for organized college kids with low budgets!).

But the real winner here is her jewelry hack that involves threading a necklace through a straw to prevent it from tangling — ingenious. The straw makes it impossible for your necklaces to wrap themselves around each other, and easy to keep track of your jewelry on the go! Villaneda adds that she then stores those necklaces in a Dollar Tree makeup brush holder while she’s on-the-go.

One person commented, “Love all of them thank you so much for the ideas especially the jewelry. I always do zip-top bags and it’s a mess.” I do relate to the doomed plastic baggy method, so I am totally trying out Emma’s hack the next time I pack up my things from my college bedroom and head home for the holidays!
