When I first moved into my off-campus apartment, I was beyond excited for all the extra space: my own room and bathroom, a living area, and a full-sized kitchen. However, as a bona fide fashion girlie, I found there was still one aspect of my new home that was lacking: Enough space to store all my clothes, shoes, and accessories.

I realized I needed something beyond my standard-size closet and dresser drawers. Of course, moving into my first apartment meant I had *a lot* of other new stuff to purchase, like extra linens and kitchen supplies. That meant my budget was tight.

Luckily, I found something that checks all my boxes: a clothing rack. It’s something that makes it easy for me to visually plan out my outfits for the week; provides additional storage space; fits in with the sophisticated, minimal aesthetic I planned for my room; and doesn’t cost too much money.

After a brief search on Amazon, I decided on a simple, streamlined option: the YOUDENOVA Clothes Rack on Wheels in black, which came in at just about $55. I chose it because it looked durable, and its narrow frame could fit in a small space. (Bonus: It’s selling for about $25 cheaper now!)

When I received the parts for the rack, I was a little concerned about setting it up, as it was my first time assembling something by myself. However, it came with its own set of tools and instructions that were actually easy to follow, and it only took me 30 minutes to assemble. Once it was in place, I was pleased to discover it looked perfect with the rest of my decor.

It’s been incredibly useful, too. Not only do I use it to display my favorite clothing (decor in and of itself!), but with its shoe rack at the bottom, it makes it easy to snag a pair as I’m rushing out the door to head to campus. Plus, the rack comes on wheels, so I can easily move it around my room whenever I want.

The rack also came with a surprise benefit: It’s the perfect background for my social media videos. As a student pursuing a career in content creation, I made it a point to section off some space in my room where I can film my YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram Reel posts — and with the addition of the clothing rack, my “content corner” has its very own, very chic focal point.

Even if you aren’t a content creator — or a fashion-lover, for that matter — every college student needs a place to store their clothes. If you’re looking for a better way to stay organized and actually see the items you own, this clothing rack will have you covered.
