Dish towels are the unsung heroes of the kitchen — they do so much dirty work it can be easy to overlook them as a fun way to incorporate a pop of seasonal decor into your space.

That ends here: In a new TikTok video, Chelsea (@chelseazeferina) shows viewers how to transform a plain set of linen dish towels into summery citrus-themed works of art in a matter of minutes.

How to Make Citrus-Print Dish Cloths

This cute DIY can be easily made with supplies worth only $20 to $30, some of which you may even have at home (time to raid the fruit bowl!):

Supplies:

To get started, cut your lemons and limes into either halves or quarters, depending on your preference, and then squeeze the juice out of them. Next, let your fruit dry while you mix up your paint. While some commenters questioned whether or not these towels would wash well, Chelsea addresses this in her caption. “Just add equal parts fabric medium to any acrylic paint, and you can wash it as you would any other fabric,” the creator says.

Once your fruits are dry, press them gently into the paint mixture and then stamp them onto the dishcloths. The patterns and colors you use are entirely up to you, so you can customize the result to suit your personal summer aesthetic.

Chelsea recommends leaving the cloths to dry for six hours when you’re done before putting them to use.

Soon, they’ll be ready to bring vibrant color to your space, whether hanging by your sink or framed on the wall.
