If you and your friends are obsessed with BookTok and all of its fan casting, silent reviews, and monthly TBR (to be read) lists, then this holiday gift wrapping idea is for you. The next time you need to wrap a book this holiday season, try this adorably personal DIY approach from book merchandise and paper goods shop Pippi Post (@pippipost.shop) on Instagram.

In @pippipost.shop’s Instagram Reel, someone starts wrapping a paperback copy of When in Rome by Sarah Adams the standard way with some plain kraft paper, placing the book on top of the cut paper and folding the right side of the paper over the book. On the left side, though, the paper gets folded down into a triangle shape before being wrapped around the book — creating a slot for some extra goodies. That’s the extra fun twist!

Then, @pippipost.shop writes the giftee’s name on top of the paper in bold white capital letters and is able to stuff the little pocket with cute bookmarks and stickers. You could do the same, or even include a little card or printed photos. Afterward, add a bow like @pippipost.shop did, or maybe even add some sequins or little drawings to the kraft paper.

Personalize your gift wrapping to the person you’re gifting the book to. For example, you could use your friend’s favorite colors or patterns for the wrapping paper, ribbon, and stuffings, or keep things more minimalistic, like the Instagram example. Get bookmarks and stickers that match your giftee’s hobbies or even the theme of the actual book.

One person commented on @pippipost.shop’s post, “Oh yes!! I’m going to buy everyone a book now so I can try this.” Love it!

Another said, “Sending this to my friends who never read so they know what I want for Christmas 😂” See, cutie reels like this are the perfect little nudge to get what you want this season (as a kind and gentle reminder, of course!).

Isabel is an incoming sophomore at the University of Vermont. She is studying public communication. She grew up in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, where she frequented the beach often during the summer. Even though her heart belongs to the ocean, the mountains are becoming a close contender. Her favorite part of living in Burlington, Vermont, for college is its unique coffee shops. Her perfect day would consist of going to a cute café in the morning, then spending the day at the beach swimming and reading, then ending the day by shopping and getting dressed up for a nice dinner downtown. Through Dorm Therapy, Isabel is excited to be a voice for young adults embarking on their college journeys and she hopes to make this big transition of life more comfortable for others in the same place as her.
