This New Cherry Pie-Flavored Nut Butter Is the Upgrade Your Morning Toast Needs (It’s Also Perfect for Yogurt Bowls!)
My pantry simply isn’t complete unless there’s a minimum of two different jars of nut butter — be it peanut, almond, or chocolate hazelnut. (Some may call me a nut butter connoisseur.) And if one is from Big Spoon Roasters, I’m a very happy girl.
I first heard about the family-owned, small-batch nut butter company, a few years ago, and my life hasn’t been the same since. The North Carolina-based company’s unique and fun flavors, like Vanilla Latte and Carrot Cake, are unmatched. Just when I think Big Spoon can’t top its last flavor, the team somehow manages to do it again.
At least, that’s what I learned after trying the newest limited-edition Cherry Pie flavor.
Big Spoon Roasters Launches Limited-Edition Cherry Pie Cashew & Almond Butter
You’ll find classic nut butters on Big Spoon Roasters’ website all year round, and fun limited-edition flavors, like Cherry Pie, each season. Inspired by the summer dessert, Big Spoon Roasters didn’t just nail the flavor, it also wanted to replicate the texture of a classic cherry pie.
To do so, the nut butter starts with fresh-roasted heirloom mission almonds and fair labor cashews, and mixes in not one, but three different cherries — dried, freeze-dried, and black cherry oil — to really bump up that fruity flavor. There’s also organic quinoa crisps for crunch, organic coconut nectar and maple syrup for sweetness, vanilla, and Jacobsen sea salt to round everything out.
Like Big Spoon’s other nut butters, Cherry Pie is gluten-, soy-, and palm-oil free. You can buy Big Spoon Roasters Cherry Pie Cashew & Almond Butter on its website for $16.99 per 13 ounce jar through September (or while supplies last).
My Honest Review of Big Spoon Roasters Cherry Pie Cashew & Almond Butter
Right off the bat, visually this nut butter looked like the thickest of all the ones I’ve tried. I barely even needed to stir it! A delicious aroma of sweet cherries and floral vanilla escaped as soon as I removed the lid, so I knew I was in for a treat. I also loved that I could see so many cherry pieces throughout.
One spoonful in and whoa! The texture is so fun. There’s crunch from the popped quinoa, similar to what I expect in a golden buttery pie crust. The rest of the nut butter is smooth and buttery, with the cashew flavor being more prominent than the almond. But that cherry flavor is really where it’s at.
It tastes sweet with a hint of tartness just like the fruit, and you get cherry flavor in every bite thanks to the dried pieces. The coconut nectar and maple syrup add just the right amount of sweetness while the vanilla makes it pop, further giving that baked good feel. Since getting my jar, I’ve been spooning the spread all over my morning yogurt bowls, smearing it on toast and Biscoff cookies, dunking it into tea, and of course eating it straight out the jar.
