Having lived in my fair share of dorms and apartments, I’ve learned the value of decor that makes a big impact without taking up a lot of space. A good rug can transform the vibe of your home in an instant, but many can be pricey or high maintenance. That’s why washable area rugs have been my go-to for small spaces with heavy foot traffic, and I found out recently that Walmart has plenty of budget-friendly options for up to 65% off.

Students can also get 50% off Walmart+, which includes a Paramount+ subscription, free shipping, free grocery delivery, and more. You’ll even get free returns from home, so if a rug doesn’t work for your space, sending it back won’t be a hassle. Here are some of my favorite washable rugs from Walmart that you can shop on sale right now.

VUNATE 5'x7' Area Rug
$70$40

This boho-inspired area rug features distressed geometric patterns in earthy tones. It’s available in 12 colors, including pink, blue, and green, and 19 sizes for large and small rooms. It also comes in round styles that range from 4' x 4' to 8' x 8'.

Toyoso 5' x 7' Area Rug
$90$43

Add vibrancy to your space with this vintage-style rug that features floral motifs and bold pops of color. It’s available in five colorways and seven sizes, starting as small as 2' x 3', and features a non-slip backing to keep it in place.

CHITOOMA 5'x7' Boho Area Rug
$85$49

Embrace a cottagecore aesthetic with this washable floral rug that’s made with soft faux wool. Its low pile makes it a great pick for high traffic areas, and because it comes in eight sizes, you can place it in almost any room. If you prefer a darker color palette, the rug is also available in black.

$49 at Walmart
Sanmadrola Ultra Soft Faux Sheepskin Rug
$80$45

It’s not every day that you find a fluffy, budget-friendly rug that you can conveniently wash at home, but this washable shag rug from Walmart is one such find. It’s available in nine sizes and eight colors that include black, white, browns, and a variety of two-toned options. Just remember that while this rug can be cleaned in the washing machine, it can’t go in the dryer and must be laid flat to dry.

$45 at Walmart
SIXHOME 5'x7' Area Rug
$77$37

Bring timeless style to your flooring with this Persian-style rug that comes in eight sizes. It features a stylish distressed appearance, a prominent medallion, and a water-repellent surface that resists spills.

BERTHMEER 5'x7' Area Rug
$80$43

This stunning gray-and-white area rug is sure to stand out in your space with its minimalist, yet intricate design. Available in eight sizes, the rug features traditional floral details and a distressed finish for classically vintage style.

Moynesa 5'x7' Area Rug

To enjoy a summer vibe all year round, look no further than this modern botanical area rug that features oversized leafy motifs and bold color. It’s available in three colorways — green, yellow, and pink — and comes in an impressive 12 sizes.

My professional writing career started in my days as a lifestyle and media blogger when I joined a magazine to cover Louisiana film, fashion, and entertainment. From there, I’ve been through a natural progression into gaming and tech content with The Nerd Machine, travel and food writing at Daebak and SnackFever, and a smorgasbord of lifestyle editorial content at Pinterest. Writing for the homespace at Apartment Therapy Media became a combination of all those things.Creativity and inspiration has always been central to my writing, whether it's an album review or a love letter to my favorite organization products. I love tapping into the everyday curiosity that drives someone to curate a space that truly embodies their vision, and where do we showcase that more than our own homes? A huge part of my role is testing products, which puts me at the forefront of trendy and innovative gadgets and gizmos to make life at home more fun and efficient. In my spare time, I’m often working on creative projects, watching K-dramas, playing video games, or spoiling my dogs. That’s if I’m not in the middle of planning my next trip for a concert, festival, or just to explore.
