It’s Barbie’s world and we’re all living in it — and for some, I mean that literally. Barbie will officially come to life in Greta Gerwig’s live-action Barbie movie on July 21, but the film has already inspired an entire decor style. You’ve likely seen the trend all over social media, characterized by over-the-top styles, sparkly accessories, and pink (so much pink!), because the Barbiecore aesthetic has taken over the home decor space. Luckily, even though the movie is set to break box-office records, there’s no need to break the bank to get the Barbie look in your own home.

Barbiecore is one of the most dazzling, dopamine-inducing trends right now, and it’s exactly what it sounds like: a roaring aesthetic of pink, glitz, and glam that represents the original 1959 classic and the many iterations that have come after. Even though it may seem like Barbiecore can only be one way, you can actually take the trend in a few different directions when it comes to your dorm room: You could design a super chic and bold room with bright patterns and hot pink decorations, or take a more muted approach with soft hues of blush and ballet slippers. If you want that specific brand of Barbie whimsy, you could incorporate sparkly elements and accessorize with florals. Or maybe you just combine all the aspects of Barbiecore for the ultimate Barbie World-inspired space.

If you’re ready to go all out for Barbie and Ken, here are the staple dorm decor pieces you’ll need to create your own Barbie dream dorm for under $250.

These artificial tulips add simple elegance with a pop of pink. A perk of these flowers is there is no upkeep involved — because, let’s be honest, it’s hard to properly maintain real flowers on a student budget. Partner these tulips with a cute, minimalist vase like this Ceramic Hand Bud Flower Vase to create the perfect dainty bouquet.

It’s like those Barbie makeover computer games, but IRL! Put this trendy heart-shaped mirror on your desk or nightstand for an instant glam station. Or, if you’re feeling innovative, you can transform the mirror into a jewelry tray by placing it flat on your dresser to use as a catch-all for your favorite accessories.

Remember Barbie Fairytopia: Mermaidia? (Just me? OK.) These heavily saturated art prints are infused with the coastal vibes reminiscent of that movie to help you unleash your inner Barbie mermaid. The orange accents provide an eye-catching pop of color — especially in an all-pink room. If you’d rather stay in tune with lighter tones, this Divine Feminine Wall Art from Etsy is an excellent alternative.

Forget rose-colored glasses — swapping out your standard lamp for these curtain lights will transform your room into a realm of playful pink. These lights feature 10 strands with 8 different lighting modes to energize any space and make you feel like your own Barbie star. Bonus: You can easily hang these in your dorm with Command hooks or a tension rod.

It’s giving vintage Barbie vibes. With rich pink hues accented with tones of orange and blue, this maximalist rug strikes the perfect balance between classic and modern — much like Miss Barbie herself.

Just like Barbie said, “You Can Be Anything!”
